Happy Holidays!
It's really hard to believe that this semester is practically over. The students have worked hard, learned a lot and hopefully developed an interest in cooking that will last their lifetime. When we return from Winter Break, they will all have a new elective class. So enjoy your break and best wishes for 2012!!

Buttercream Frosting
The last couple of days students have been busy making and decorating holiday cookies. I made the frosting for the students and so for those of you that asked about the recipe, here it is:
1 pound box or 4 cups of powdered sugar
2/3 cube of butter
1/4 cup milk (I always use a little extra milk)
1 teaspoon vanilla
Mix together until smooth and creamy. Enjoy!

Favorite time of the year!
Fall is one of my favorite seasons of the year. There's just something about the cooler weather, and watching football that inspire me to cook and bake. The Dolphins usually play at 10am our time, so I am usually cooking early Sunday mornings, preparing some kind of game day snacks. So I am wondering... do you have a favorite sports team (football, or baseball or basketball) and what is your favorite appetizer or snack?

Napkin Folding
Today, students learned some basic napkin folds. They are so much fun, and they can practice at home! Many of the napkin fold instructions came from the following websites: http://www.napkinfolding.net/ and http://www.napkinfoldingguide.com/
With a little practice, students should be able to add a little pizazz to your dinner table!

Can eating chocolate help keep you healthy??
After school today...
Before I shopped at Smart and Final for your Pretzels lab, I stopped at "The Habit" for a late lunch. It's one of my favorite fast food restaurants. I love their burger, and fries dipped in ranch dressing. What is your favorite Fast Food meal?

Fall Break Fun!
Hope you enjoyed your Fall Break. I went to Lombardi Ranch on Tuesday not only to pick out our pumpkins, but also purchased some wonderful tomatoes, zucchini and corn on the cob. I also went through Scarecrow Alley and saw these 3 displays: monster, hula girl and surfer, and super heroes. One of them was created by our own Rio Norte ASB. If you visit Lombardi Ranch, post which one was created by Rio. The first 2 A day and first 2 B day correct posters will get a prize!! Please remember when you post, you put your first name and period number (put your last name initial too if there are more than one of you with the same first name in the same class). All posts need to be made by 6pm, Sunday October 9th. Winners will be posted on Monday!!
