Food Label Assignment

Many of you were on a field trip today or were absent, and to catch you up, I have posted the handouts and presentation we went over in class today, so you can complete today's work at home.

What's on a Food Label and Food Label Scavenger Hunt handout.

Design your own food label project directions.

Print out the Handouts and Project directions.

Go through the presentation and fill in the What's on a food Label handout. You can complete the Food Label Scavenger Hunt handout, by looking at foods you have in your cabinets or pantry. For question #5, if you don't have an Enchilada sauce can, you can replace that with "Dairy Product", and answer question number 5 using dairy product.

Read through the design you own food label project thoroughly. None of this project is to be done on the computer. It all has to be done by hand and in color. This project is due: 2/6/14, the same day as your first Home Cooking Assignment due date.

Welcome 2nd Semester Culinary Arts I Students

Welcome back to school and to Exploring Culinary Arts I. Students have been given course outlines with a page that needs to be signed by parents and returned to class. We are currently working on learning about Kitchen and Food Safety and students will be taking a safety test next week on Tuesday, 1/21/14 that they need to pass with an 85% or better. After tomorrow, they will have all the materials they need to study for this test.

After safety, students will then be learning about kitchen equipment, abbreviations and equivalents, and how to measure before our first cooking lab the following week!

Please check out the website, and if you have any questions or comments, you can post it here on the site or send me an email at mmoore@hartdistrict.org.
